Appointments & Office Policies
Booking Appointments
Appointments can be booked in person or over the phone. When booking, please inform the receptionist of the reason for your visit. This helps us allocate the appropriate amount of time, especially for complete physicals, Pap tests, or other services that require longer appointments.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend your appointment, we kindly ask that you provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Missed appointments without proper notice may result in a fee, which must be paid before booking future appointments.
Test Results
Patients are expected to return to the clinic to follow up on test results. The doctor will advise when to book your follow-up visit. Due to privacy regulations, we cannot release test results over the phone or confirm their arrival. Before leaving the clinic, please ask when your results are expected.
Referrals to Specialists
If a referral is made to a specialist, either our clinic or the specialist’s office will contact you with an appointment time. The wait time will vary depending on the specialist’s availability and scheduling.
Medication and Prescriptions
Controlled Substances
Kings Medical Centre does not prescribe opioids or other controlled medications to new patients or those not previously known to our clinic. Prescriptions for these medications must follow strict protocols, including receiving prescriptions from one physician and filling them at one pharmacy. Early refill requests will not be accommodated.
Prescription Renewals
We do not provide prescription renewals over the phone or by fax. It is your responsibility, along with your doctor’s, to ensure appropriate refills and follow-up intervals are discussed during your appointments. Please address any medication needs during your visit.
Contact Information
Please ensure your contact details, including phone number, home address, and emergency contact, are up to date. You may update this information at the reception desk or by phone.
Patient Behaviour
We strive to provide every patient with a respectful, supportive environment. Our staff are trained to assist with your needs, and we expect patients to treat them respectfully in return. Abusive behaviour of any kind is not tolerated and may result in dismissal from the practice.
If a doctor-patient relationship becomes unworkable, Kings Medical Centre reserves the right to end the relationship, continuing to provide emergency care for 30 days or until the patient secures another provider.
Uninsured Services & Form Completion
Many administrative services, including form completion, are not covered by Alberta Health Services. It is the patient’s responsibility to pay for these services in advance. Please inform the receptionist of any forms requiring completion before your appointment with the doctor.
